Description

Balance is the most restrained expression of the Checker Collection. Its dial is divided horizontally between two opposing surfaces: a field of brilliant-set diamonds above and deep black below. The simplicity of the division gives the watch its character, allowing light and darkness, ornament and restraint, to exist in equal measure. The geometry feels deliberate rather than decorative, with the familiar rounded form of the ALD case providing a softer frame around the graphic dial.

The composition continues beyond the dial itself, with the diamond-set case becoming an integral part of the design rather than simply an embellishment around it. The result is a piece that plays with contrast without becoming excessive: half brilliance, half absence. Of the three Checker designs, Balance is the clearest reduction of the collection’s central idea taking the visual language of the checkerboard and distilling it into two opposing halves.

A Study in Balance

Balance reduces the Checker concept to its purest expression. Diamond pavé and deep black meet across a single horizontal line, creating two opposing surfaces held in deliberate equilibrium. The contrast is immediate, but the simplicity of the composition gives the watch an unexpected restraint.

Light Meets Shadow

The character of Balance changes constantly with its surroundings. Diamonds capture and scatter light across one half of the watch, while the black surface absorbs it across the other. Together, the two materials create a natural tension between brilliance and absence.

Beyond the Dial

The composition does not end at the edge of the dial. Diamonds continue across the case, integrating its familiar rounded geometry into the design itself. Rather than simply framing the watch, the case becomes another element within the contrast that defines Balance.
